George and Abe

In keeping with Presidents' Day, Andrew has been learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln this week. On the way home today, I asked him what he learned about George Washington. His first remark was that he's an old man. When I asked him what he did, he told me he sat in his house and read the paper.

Sophia joined Andrew yesterday because she didn't have school. As they learned about Abraham Lincoln and his nickname "Honest Abe", Sophia commented that she sometimes has trouble telling the truth because then you get in trouble. She also said that Andrew doesn't tell the truth all the time and therefore doesn't get in trouble.

My Sweet Valentines

How did I get so lucky?

Ouch!

Final Score- Pavement: 1 Andrew: 0

Poor Andrew. He's had bad luck with injuries. The latest happened this weekend while out to lunch. We aren't sure why, but Andrew was leaning against the door when Erik opened it for him to get out (he may have been preoccupied with the Menards map they found to be quite interesting). Andrew fell out and face planted onto the pavement. There we stood in the parking lot, Andrew crying and trying to figure out what had happened, Erik running to find a store with napkins to stop the bleeding and me trying to make sure he didn't have yet another loose tooth. I guess it's fitting that he had his Vikings jersey on that day-they didn't fair too well either this season.

Birthday Wishes

There are belated birthday cards, but no early birthday cards. Andrew needs to talk to Hallmark. For months now, he has had a one-track mind on what else, but his birthday (which is still months away). Remember, this is the kid who made us sing happy birthday to him on his sister's birthday (candles and all). If you tell him how much you want the snow to melt, how much you wish winter was over, he replies that he feels the same way because then it will be his birthday. He's already got it all planned out. Apparently, we are all flying to Florida for a few hours (he said his mom and dad are paying for everyone) and then coming back and celebrating at the house. We are having thai chicken skewers and cake. Somewhere, camping finds its way into our plans for the day too. And he told Erik the other day that he needs to buy him a present. I guess Andrew just likes to plan ahead. I'm not ready for this little guy to turn 4 yet, so I'll continue to suffer through winter and not wish the days by too quickly.
