A few weeks ago, one of my students asked me if Andrew still said "baaa" in response to questions. Until they asked me, I had completely forgotten that he ever did it-and that was just a few months ago. I wonder how many other little things I've forgotten about already. That was the whole purpose of keeping a journal and then a blog-to capture all those small moments. Now that I'm home for the summer, I need to get back to that again. Andrew is going to be three in just a few weeks. Two is still little but three seems a lot older, something I'm not ready for yet. They seem to be growing up so fast and I don't get that time back with them ever again. I plan to make the most of the next 2 1/2 months and create lots of memories with those two crazy kids. Just remind me of that the next time they are driving me up the wall. Here's the latest in their worlds:

Sophia-Graduated from preschool-I cried of course. My baby girl is growing up and it's hard to believe 5 years have passed. I now have a kindergartner. She loved going to preschool this year and it was a great experience for her. She made new friends and even proclaimed to have her first-ever boyfriend, a little boy named Connor. She also danced in her first dance recital-I cried again. She stole the show-or at least her song. She was the only one dancing and she did great! She's already said she'd like the dance again next year. Sophia's very interested in art and has now also shown an interest in science. One thing is for sure-she's a very smart little girl! We've made several trips to the doctor lately. A few months ago, Sophia complained of not being able to hear very well. In fact, we had to turn her lullaby music up quite a bit and she had to have things repeated. She had fluid in her ears and failed two hearing tests. The third time we took her in, she passed the test despite still having fluid in her ears. The doctor suggested we still take her to the ENT, which is now on our 'to do' list. (Update-the ENT appointment lasted all of 5 minutes. His prescription? Blow up two balloons each night and chew a piece of gum each day. I kid you not.)

Andrew-Has also been to the doctor several times over the last few months. Thankfully they've been willing to look at both of them in the same visit. In April, Andrew developed a bad sinus infection. We went in this past week, worried that it still hadn't gone away despite two different medications. We were right-he now has a double ear infection and is on his third round of medication. Hopefully we get it this time! Andrew has become quite interested in puzzles and is even taking on challenging ones. He also enjoys helping me play Guess Who and Candyland. If you land on a special square in Candyland, you get to go over the rainbow and move ahead of everyone else. Andrew has decided he really likes to do this. He was playing with Erik the other night and even though he was nowhere near the rainbow, all he wanted to do was go over it, again and again. (Update-when I played with him another time, he got a card that would move him to the end of the game but refused to move his person because he preferred another spot on the board close to the start).
A funny Andrew/Sophia story. A few weeks ago, I took the kids to Creative Kidstuff to buy something with their birthday money from there. Sophia chose a really pretty headband handmade in Peru. Andrew wanted a shovel and after a lot of time convincing him to get one that had two sides (one for water, one for sand), we paid and left. Around this time, Sophia decided she wanted a shovel too and proceeded to start sobbing. I said that I was sure Andrew would share and asked him, to which he replied, "No, I won't. It's MY shovel." This led to more sobs, followed by another request, followed my a similar request. Within a few minutes, Sophia decided she didn't need a shovel after all and all was well with the world again.
